Are there any special symbols used in conjunction with military times and what are they?

Military time is an alternate way of telling time that is used by the military, emergency services and other entities that require a highly accurate and uniform way to measure time. In military time, there are no a.m. or p.m. designations, just the 24-hour day beginning at midnight or 0000 hours and running through until 11:59 p.m., represented as 2359 hours. Rather than separating each hour into two halves, with traditional 12-hour clocks dividing each hour into 60 minutes, in military time each hour is divided into a hundred parts of 60 seconds instead of 100 minutes of 60 seconds as with regular clocks.

Military times also use specific symbols to represent certain events in relation to the clock's information. These symbols are typically associated with increased alertness and vigilance during certain situations, such as when personnel must stand ready and available for action at any given moment without warning or prior notice. For example, the letter "D" is often used alongside military times to indicate danger or alertness in certain scenarios where it is essential for all personnel to be on high alert and ready for anything at all times

The symbol "Z" is also commonly used alongside military times as 'Zulu Time Zone,' also referred to as GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). This symbol reflects the uniformity of all time keeping in relation to GMT but can also be divided further into smaller increments known as "ATZ", which stands for Atlantic Time Zone and represent an additional 4x4-minute portion of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) which brings it up to 7x4 minutes per hour because the UTM Coordinate XTZ counts from midnight instead from 0001 Hours.

The abbreviation 'UTM' stands for Universal Transverse Mercator coordinates, which are commonly used by many armed forces for international navigation purposes where operating in different Zones requires a specific abbreviated notation on maps indicating latitude and longitude tracking points on different geodetic datums. The standard UTM coordinates start counting at 0200 hours so that 12 o'clock noon would be written 0800 Hours instead on Military Time Clocks with this notation system thus keeping a consistent reference point between different zones when compass bearings are taken under active travels across regions which have coordinate systems different than those adopted by native areas such as land navigation referencing topographical maps requiring degrees of Latitude/Longitude degrees than metric marking adjustments while traversing lands traditionally surveyed using standard nautical units like decimal fractional miles/secs etc..

UUM would therefore equate to 0800hrs UTC/GMT Universal Coordinated Time for in example

another dateless Military UTC based tally system uses letter X Y Z symbols - Each letter denotes a specific range of 24 hours starting from X which = 0000 - 1199 hrs Y = 1200 - 2399 hrs; Z= 2400 - 3599 hrs This type of notation was widely adopted during WW2 era when appropriate UTM systems(distinct lat/long coord sys) weren't widely available yet .. so they had limited geographic situations where crew & staff needed precision navigation knowledge.. These days its more obscure than common but still occasionally seen especially amongst sailors mariners & ancient mariners on certain international vessels fleets & intimate ports..
